Constructed of gilded bronze, the exterior bearing a black enameled 1914 Iron Cross, flanked by dates 1914 1915 on hollow backgrounds, the interior with a date of 1915 flanked by initials H. E. and M. H., opening with a functional spring catch with exterior stud release, otherwise unmarked, measuring 66 mm (w) x 58 mm (h),
