The Pale Morning Dun's can be seen hatching from May through October in many areas. This crippled mayfly is an important food source for trout. The Dun represents the important stage between an emerging nymph and an adult mayfly. Technically this is the subimago stage. This is an easy time for fish, but a vulnerable phase for the mayfly since the wings have just formed.
